I'm a Lyft driver who rents through Lyft from Hertz. The first issue I have is moreso on Lyft but even more on Hertz. In Texas, per contract we are required to get TollTag for the tolls here. The problem is, Hertz already works with some company I'd never heard of called PlatePass. I pay for Tolltag but if my account gets low or funds run out, or if the toll itself doesn't read the tag I have, rather than the company I have an account with billing me, I get bills totaling over $400 from Hertz' *** toll company. Then you realize the bills mostly consist of administration fees which I learned from the Hertz rep is a fee charged for them to notify Hertz that there's an unpaid toll out there despite them mailing a bill anyway, and then when it's time to renew your rental contract, you have to spend over 3 hours trying to get someone to take your money to pay for these tolls that you never even knew you were being charged for or you can't rent the car again leaving you with no job or transportation, so of course, you're gonna pay it.

Now to the good stuff...In April, I was involved in a really bad wreck in which some woman who had a 10 year old in her car was speeding through downtown where I live and took off the front end of my car, deployed the airbag and everything. I went into shock and had to nurse superficial cuts and burns to my arm on top of residual back problems. The woman wasn't the owner of the car and wasn't on the insurance. We both gave a statement to the police and I was told I would be able to get a copy in 2 days. I went to the police station 2 days later and was told I had to wait 7-10 working days. So because I was told by the initial claims rep that I needed a police report, I began attempting to contact someone to let them know the timeline I was given. After calling probably 3-4 times, I find out from a Hertz rep that the claim had been sent to Esis insurance and given the name and number of the adjuster. I called and called and emailed and eventually found out that somehow they already had the police report (even though it hadn't even been made available by the city) and that they already began fixing the woman's car (which had minor damage in comparison to the totaled car I was driving) she said that the woman who was driving claimed injuries and that I was found at fault. Keep in mind, SHE WASN'T THE OWNER OF THE CAR! How can she start making all these claims on insurance she isn't covered under? All this without a single person with Esis calling me even once to get a statement from me. No one ever investigated the incident. I know this because had they done so, she would have been found at fault considering she was flying through the streets in a busy downtown area where driving over 20 mph is a detriment to the driver and anyone around them. Now in July I'm getting calls about the damages to the car I was driving and the deductible is $4500. Where tf am I supposed to get that??? Hertz has a negligent insurance company backing them scamming every driver who has even a minor issue with their cars but they have no issue renting out cars with defects, damages, no maintenance, and unclean.

Even with all this going on, after a month of being out of work due to the wreck, I was able to rent another car from Hertz...2 weeks after getting it in May, another woman hit me. It was a fender bender but there was enough damage that the front bumper needs to be replaced on the car. Since I was working for Lyft at the time, and since the car is still driveable I was told I could get it fixed myself (which makes no sense considering I wasn't and better not be determined to be at fault and the lady's insurance should fix it) but I proceeded with filing a claim because at the end of the day both cars involved need to be fixed. I got a call from Gabriel Baker from Esis one day who left a message saying they needed a statement from me. Cool. So I called back again and again and again leaving my phone number and email address for him to contact me. Instead of a returned call or an email, I got a letter in the mail from Gabe saying he was having so much trouble getting in contact with me at a number that isn't even mine. I've called again and again and again leaving voicemails with my correct information that we all know he already has (seeing as he called the right number to leave a voicemail for me in the first place). This accident occurred in May and we're treading on August and I'm still driving this car with the messed up bumper and I still haven't spoken to Gabe's *** I can't even return the car until I know what they are going to do because I'll be damned if I let Hertz charge me for the damages that this woman's insurance should have covered by now.

Once I move on from this ordeal, I will never be a Hertz customer, EVER. This company doesn't give a *** about the cars they rent out and they can't wait for someone to have an "incident" so they can send them ridiculous bills with charges that were a cause of someone else. It should be illegal for these companies to scam people the way they do. If there's ever a class action suit down the line, I'll be first in line.

As a company, Hertz is only part of the problem, they're careless and lack training and knowledge. The bigger issue is crooked *** Esis who isn't even there to ensure Hertz' cars are taken care of, they're out to find ways to put people in debt. Good luck getting a dime for the wrecked car. That's on y'all for not giving a *** about your drivers or cars. Maybe if you took an extra 15 minutes to investigate the incidents people have you wouldn't have such a *** reputation. Understand this, I'm contacting corporate and whoever else I need to about Mr. Gabriel Baker and once I get going he won't have a job. You hire lazy incompetent people to handle your business and then eventually you stop calling (my bad, you don't most of the time but when you do, it's only once) and all of a sudden a bill shows up in the mail. And for that, you have me totally *** up.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

I am having the same issue right now. Hertz rented scraped the side of my car.

Claim has been started but these idiot form Esis don't respond. I email and called many time left voice mail. I call the adjuster supervisor twice and left voice mail and NO one call back or email back. These idiots can't be that busy.

I don't know how this company stay in business.

I have a feeling I might have to pay out the pocket for my accident. Its been over a month and no one has contact me back .
