I am a Hertz Gold member and on May 3, 2014 rented a car from Phoenix for a week long vacation. We picked up the car at the bay that was on the board beside my name and drove off, should have checked all around the vehicle but have rented many times without issue. Drove out of the rental lot at 1:30 pm and drove straight to the hotel in Scottsdale. Our room was not ready so the car remained parked until 5:30 when we drove over to our villa. Upon exiting the car and walking to the front I noticed a scratch under the front bumper as if someone hit a parking lot tire stop. Knowing that I hadn't damamged the vehicle in any way I immediately took a picture of the damage with my phone which is geo stamped with the time and location.

We drove the car a total of 127 miles for the week and when we returned the car the attendant saw the damage, i showed her the picture and i filled out a brief description and mentioned on that description that I had a picture. She said it shouldn't be a problem and my receipt mentions nothing about this and says my account is paid in full.

Today I received a bill from Viking Billing Services asking for a payment of $494 for the damage. Hertz has never tried to contact me about this and the billing company says they are just a collection agency. Please help if you have numbers or emails of Hertz people to contact.

Monetary Loss: $494.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Hertz is a rip off. They charge you for a tire that has 27000 miles on it ...$199.00.

Then you have to pay the tow truck driver to pump up the flat spare they have in the rental vehicle. WILL NEVER RENT FROM HERTZ AGAIN!!!

just received a letter from Viking Services 7 MONTHS after the alleged incident. Never heard from Hertz and have continued to rent a car once and many times twice each month with not incident or mention.

This totally smells like fraud. Shame on you, Hertz!

Similar experience with Budget. No damage whatsoever.

I have written Viking and even Budget. I don't expect any answers.

If Hertz and Budget treat their customers this way, boycott them. And Yelp them.

Don't pay the bill! Let them chase for it! Car rental companies are begining to be like lawyers, doctors, and car sales men, they over price, they big time lie, all they want to do at the end of the day is count your money in the registers!

I have a similar issue with receiving a bill from Viking after renting a Hertz car in August 2014 from SFO for one week to go to Napa with my wife. The rental car was not new, and someone did scratch the side of the car, very minor (cosmetic only).

Anyway, now 2 months later I'm getting phone calls and a bill from Viking Billing that I owe them $633 because I returned a car with damage? First of all, I was not contacted by Hertz or told in any way when I returned the car that I was responsible for any damage to the car, and I remember purchasing the LDW coverage.

Hertz sent me to collections without first contacting or notifying me of any issue? I am very upset and have sent a complaint to Hertz customer service demanding they explain.
